Here is a list of events our AdventureSmart team in British Columbia are hosting. Events include Safety Series, Trailhead Outreach and Hug A Tree & Survive, Survive Outside and PaddleSmart programs. Event info can be found under each event listing and virtual sessions have links to there registration.     Details: This program is all about water safety for your canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard
    adventures.

    ~ Trip Planning

    Event: Hug a Tree and Survive Program
    Date: June 24, 2021

    Details: The Hug-a-Tree and Survive presentation is aimed at children aged 5–11 and is an
    AdventureSmart program that helps lost children survive in the woods. It teaches children
    how not to become lost in the woods, and what to do should they become lost.
    If a child should become lost in the woods, hugging a tree can help them stay safe, and
    be found. Staying near a tree offers some protection from the elements, and keeps lost
    children in the same place, which makes it easier for searchers to find them.

    ~ Taking Essentials – basic safety items, plus adding season and sport specific gear.
    ~ What to do in an emergency.
    Who can participate? Anyone interested in outdoor recreation and personal
    preparedness for outdoor activities such as hiking, backcountry adventures, mountain
    biking, 4x4ing, bike touring, geocaching and camping.
