It’s Summer Activity Time: Get Informed and Go Outdoors!!

No matter what outdoor activity you decide to pursue, ensure that you’re well-prepared before you head outside. Proper trip preparation includes: checking that you have all the required gear, and that it is all in working order; double-checking that you have packed The 10 Essentials; and, leaving a Trip Plan with a responsible person.

It’s simple…be AdventureSmart!

Cougars and Bears and Ticks…Oh My!

While you may be hearing the call of the wild and plan to head into the mountains this summer, remember that many creatures call the wilderness their home. Should you cross paths with either a cougar or a bear in the wild, be sure that you know what to do to make yours a safe encounter. And, don’t forget the less assuming creatures, such as ticks. Ensure you know how to recognize and remove ticks, on the off-chance that you’re bitten by one.

Be bear-, cougar- and tick-aware!

Good Day Sunshine!

Before you rush outside to soak up the sun, remember to slather on your sunscreen. Bring a hat extra clothing to cover exposed skin when you need a break from the rays. And, don’t forget to hydrate! Activities in the summer heat can quickly lead to dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids before and during your activity. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty … by then you’re already dehydrating.

Don’t forget, these tips apply to your kids, too!
